grief grieve living neither nor speak wise words worthy
You grieve for those who are not worthy of grief, and yet speak the words of wisdom. The wise grieve neither for the living nor for the dead.
birth born certain death grieve inevitable therefore thou
For certain is death for the born and certain is birth for the dead; Therefore over the inevitable thou should not grieve
birth death grieve sure therefore
Death is as sure for that which is born, as birth is for that which is dead. Therefore grieve not for what is inevitable.
birth dies grieve takes
If you think that this (body) takes birth and dies perpetually, even then, O Arjuna, you should not grieve like this.
body embodied grieve therefore within
The embodied one within the body of everyone, O Bharata, is ever undestroyable. Therefore you should not grieve for any being.
creation creator hear powers source
What the creation is, what it is like, what its transformations are, where the source is, who that creator is, and what His powers are, hear all these from Me in brief.
men questions wisest work
What is work and what is not work are questions that perplex the wisest of men.
austerity mind purity serenity

The Self is present equally in all beings.
blazing brilliance difficult mass shining sun
I see You with Your crown, club, discus; and a mass of radiance, difficult to behold, shining all around with immeasurable brilliance of the sun and the blazing fire.
explain fully knowing known remains self-knowledge shall together
I shall fully explain to you the Self-knowledge together with Self-realization after knowing that nothing more remains to be known in this world.
attains describe fully knowing object shall
I shall fully describe the object of knowledge, knowing which one attains immortality.
cause confusion shall
I shall be the cause of confusion and destruction of all these people.
