attains faith gained gains mastery supreme
The one who has faith, and is sincere, and has mastery over the senses, gains this knowledge. Having gained this, one at once attains the supreme peace.
dear hateful worship
There is no one hateful or dear to Me. But, those who worship Me with devotion, they are with Me and I am also with them.
becomes due fixed listen mind overcome shall
When your mind becomes fixed on Me, you shall overcome all difficulties by My grace. But, if you do not listen to Me due to ego, you shall perish.
attain confused doctrine firm opinions shall stay steady
When your intellect, that is confused by the conflicting opinions and the ritualistic doctrine of the Vedas, shall stay steady and firm with the Self, then you shall attain Self-realization.
ancestors ancestry born ghosts
Worshippers of the demigods go to the demigods, the worshippers of the ancestors go to the ancestors, and the worshippers of the ghosts go to the ghosts, but My devotees come to Me (and are not born again).
cut doubt heart resort sword
Therefore, resort to Karma-yoga and cut the ignorance-born doubt abiding in your heart by the sword of Self-knowledge, and get up (to fight), O Arjuna.
alone certainly dwell focus intellect meditation mind shall thereafter
Therefore, focus your mind on Me alone and let your intellect dwell upon Me through meditation and contemplation. Thereafter you shall certainly come to Me.
attain certainly duty fixed intellect mind remember shall
Therefore, always remember Me and do your duty. You shall certainly attain Me if your mind and intellect are fixed on Me.
beings future knows
I know, O Arjuna, the beings of the past, of the present, and those of the future, but no one really knows Me.
attitude complete freed good shall
By this attitude of complete renunciation you shall be freed from the bondage, good and bad, of Karma. You shall be liberated, and come to Me.
divine eye majestic physical power
But, you are not able to see Me with your physical eye; therefore, I give you the divine eye to see My majestic power and glory.
noble others persons standard whatever
Because, whatever noble persons do, others follow. Whatever standard they set up, the world follows.
difficult mind
Because the mind, indeed, is very unsteady, turbulent, powerful, and obstinate, O Krishna. I think restraining the mind is as difficult as restraining the wind.
afflicted becomes calm feelings fit pain steady
Because the calm person, who is not afflicted by these feelings and is steady in pain and pleasure, becomes fit for immortality, O Arjuna.
