Barry Lee Alvarezis a former American football coach who is currently the athletic director at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He served as the head football coach at Wisconsin for 16 seasons, from 1990 to 2005, compiling a career college football record of 118–73–4. We probably had three this year where he sees nothing but goal line in front of him and a lot of yardage, a big hit, and somebody dives and just nips his toe. But he'll get some of those before the year is over.

As I visit with some of the other coaches in leagues that have playoffs, I don't think that there's any excitement about the playoff. Sure, it's a big payoff for one game, but I think it diminishes some of the season. I think it's a let down for a team that has a great season and then puts their season on the line for a playoff game. And it all seems done for no other reason than a paycheck.

I haven't seen any frustration, I really haven't. I pulled him over late in the (Indiana) game and told him to just keep going because I think it's just a matter of time. You look at cross country. We're not the ideal place to be running cross country. There are other schools, because of their weather and everything else, they probably have advantages. Yet, our guys found a way to get it done.
division doubt expect none pay profession rules top
There's no doubt the profession has changed. At the top of Division I they are going to pay you well and expect you to produce. But none of us should complain. We know the rules going in.
