crazy good win
I've been in some crazy shootouts, but never one like that. This is as good of a win as I've had.
coaching football good league recruit solid trying
They all recruit hard, they play solid football, they all have a good plan. It's not just someone trying to out-formation you, they know what it's all about. I think the coaching in this league is very strong.
activities backwards bent bowl choose committee excellent heard hype lived people players rave stay sure venue
This bowl has lived up to all the hype that I heard of it. Coaches...that have been here rave about the hospitality, rave about the venue and all the activities for the players. The people here have been marvelous. The bowl committee has bent over backwards to make sure that our stay is an excellent one. The players have something to do if they choose every day. You couldn't find a better place.
coaches diminishes excitement great leagues line payoff playoff puts reason season seems team visit
As I visit with some of the other coaches in leagues that have playoffs, I don't think that there's any excitement about the playoff. Sure, it's a big payoff for one game, but I think it diminishes some of the season. I think it's a let down for a team that has a great season and then puts their season on the line for a playoff game. And it all seems done for no other reason than a paycheck.
call coach mason safety taken
Coach Mason could have taken a safety, but that's his call and I'm not going to second-guess him.
adding ball create move seen watching
The thing that I've seen in watching him ... is they just keep adding to the package. They have more and more and more things that you have to defend. They really create a lot of problems. That's why they'll move the ball on everyone.
gentleman man talented talk
You talk about low-key and unassuming and just a very talented young man who's a gentleman at all times. He's just been a joy.
fits implement model plan program similar situation took
You take someone who took a program that's similar to what you're inheriting and see what they did, how they did it, kind of what their plan and what their model was, and see how it fits (to) what your situation is and try to implement it,
bow handle neck
You only have so many. You've got to bow your neck and do with what you've got. That's how you handle it.
best decision father gave maybe quite support
Quite frankly, I thought the best thing for him would be to come back. But that is their decision. We gave them the facts. He and his father had to make the decision and they did. So I have to support it. Quite frankly, maybe selfishly, I wanted to see him come back.
couple days good guess hate lose move next people position post timetable together
I guess it's bittersweet that I see him leave. You hate to lose a good man, but you know when you have good people they're going to move on. We'll probably get together in the next couple of days to see what his timetable is. But, obviously, we'll post the position and take a look and see who's out there, but I don't have a timetable right now. It's a little too early.
bowl grew kid nebraska orange poor saw
I grew up a poor kid in Pennsylvania. I went to Nebraska because I saw them play in an Orange Bowl and I wanted to play in that game.
answer broke
I don't have an answer - we broke down in all areas.
matched
I'd like for him to be matched up that way all day. I don't think we'll have that luxury.
