Barry Lee Alvarezis a former American football coach who is currently the athletic director at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He served as the head football coach at Wisconsin for 16 seasons, from 1990 to 2005, compiling a career college football record of 118–73–4. We'll absorb Jamie's loss and move forward and, to be honest with you, I'm not going to get real wrapped up in it this week. I have one other priority that sits a little higher than replacing Jamie, as valuable as he was, and I have a lot of confidence in the people that I have that we'll be able to absorb it for the short-term until we find a replacement. But I'm not going to let it be a distraction.

They all recruit hard, they play solid football, they all have a good plan. It's not just someone trying to out-formation you, they know what it's all about. I think the coaching in this league is very strong.

Quite frankly, I thought the best thing for him would be to come back. But that is their decision. We gave them the facts. He and his father had to make the decision and they did. So I have to support it. Quite frankly, maybe selfishly, I wanted to see him come back.

You look at cross country. We're not the ideal place to be running cross country. There are other schools, because of their weather and everything else, they probably have advantages. Yet, our guys found a way to get it done.
division doubt expect none pay profession rules top
There's no doubt the profession has changed. At the top of Division I they are going to pay you well and expect you to produce. But none of us should complain. We know the rules going in.

We don't talk about that. To be in the mix is good this late in the season, but I hope our guys are all smart enough to figure out it's about (Purdue) this week. All the focus is on this week, and no further than this week.
