coaches diminishes excitement great leagues line payoff playoff puts reason season seems team visit
As I visit with some of the other coaches in leagues that have playoffs, I don't think that there's any excitement about the playoff. Sure, it's a big payoff for one game, but I think it diminishes some of the season. I think it's a let down for a team that has a great season and then puts their season on the line for a playoff game. And it all seems done for no other reason than a paycheck.
gentleman man talented talk
You talk about low-key and unassuming and just a very talented young man who's a gentleman at all times. He's just been a joy.
fits implement model plan program similar situation took
You take someone who took a program that's similar to what you're inheriting and see what they did, how they did it, kind of what their plan and what their model was, and see how it fits (to) what your situation is and try to implement it,
coaches conversation fast problem scoring sidelines time
We were scoring so fast a lot of the times, there wasn't a lot of time on the sidelines for the coaches to get enough conversation to know what the problem was, before they were back on the field.

We asked them to jump up in there and play press man and I thought they did a pretty good job. I think it will help them. Every week they should get a little better.
bowl chance contend felt football game good january knowing league majority nice whether
So, I thought we had a chance to be a nice football team. Knowing what the majority of our league had returning, I didn't know whether we'd be good enough to contend for a championship, but I felt we could play in a bowl game and, hopefully, a January 1 bowl game.
athlete athletics frame matt pounds
Matt was probably 205 pounds when we recruited him. But we could see what kind of athlete he is. He has a big frame (6-foot-6). He'll get on the field. He's very athletic. He's really going to be something some day.

block establish hard pressure run time
Obviously, we couldn't block them very well, you could see that. We couldn't establish the run and had a hard time with pressure off the edge.

man played proud
Man did he play. I was really proud of him. . . . I really thought he played exceptional for a young kid.
asking run support tight trying
Many times they were trying to run with a linebacker on him, which is very difficult, if you're asking a linebacker to play run support and also play the tight end.
focused potential stay teams win
Many times it's the teams that stay the most focused that win the games. There's a lot of potential to be distracted.
bowling defense difficult green hang hat seems studied tendencies type year
We've studied the Bowling Green defense of a year ago, and what they did and their tendencies and their patterns. And we've also studied the Clemson defense as to what they did, what he (Lovett) seems to hang his hat on, and that type of thing. So it's been a little more of a difficult preparation for us.
