Coming back to Battle Creek for the finals is really a dream come true for me. I really hope to see a lot of old friends, wrestlers I've coached and family.

When the BC job came open I was interested. I knew the program and its history of coaches from both as a player and a coach. I thought I could leave my mark here and I always felt BC could be more consistent in having its coach. BC was going through a cleansing period and I think I needed one, too.

Oh, most definitely. We lost some good seniors. We lost our lead-off hitter, number one pitcher, and number two batter. So we're looking to replace some good people, but that's what recruiting is all about, and that's what coaching is all about.

I say it's a reflection not just on me but the whole program. It's something the whole program should be proud of because not just one person can do it. You have to have the parents, the coaching staff, the students and the support from the community and I really think we are starting to get that.

He's recognizing what opposing defenses are trying to do to him and delivering the ball to his teammates. I don't think the coaches in this league have (overlooked Smith). Maybe the fans and media isn't as familiar with him, but I guess you will be as time goes on.

We just stayed out of trouble all day and tried to keep the fenders on that thing. We were right there in the top-10. That was just Skinner luck.

We weren't patient enough. We settled. There were some opportunities on the perimeter, but you don't have to settle for the shot. You can still drive the ball to the basket. That's the strength of our club.

We went flat and started coasting after the 7-1 lead after two innings. But I thought we played pretty good for the first game of the season.

We're disturbed by that. You want to go out and respect the opponent and respond to that. We didn't take it as a challenge. We just went with the flow. Quite honestly, the game's over. We have to get ready for league play.
