ability bench bring looked team
One of things I looked at was our ability to use the bench. It's important we are able to bring our bench on and that is what we were able to do today. This is a whole team effort.
andrew bench hard last performed worked
Julian has performed well off the bench in the last two games. He has performed well for Leicester over the last month. He has improved. He has worked hard on his mobility. It is the same with Andrew Sheridan, they are working together.
ball benchmark build expose games importance midfield players playing pleased quick space speed team three time trying work
I think that it's still progressing. I was pleased with the players in the autumn. In the three games we set a benchmark and it's important that we build on that. The importance is the whole team development. It's about playing with speed of ball and understanding. If we can get quick ball then the midfield combinations will have more time to work and expose the space that we're trying to attack. I was pretty pleased with the way the midfield went.
advantage bench four game growing impact laid players solid three
It is important to use the bench and take advantage of the impact those players can make. We have laid solid foundations and it is now about growing as a team. We need to be able to play the game in three or four different ways.
against allow battle bench early establish facing great hope italians ourselves penalties players points position previous score sloppy tend understand won
I very much hope we score some early points and get the thing won in the first 20 minutes, as we have on previous occasions. But we all understand we're facing a great battle here. If we're sloppy at the set pieces, give away penalties and allow the Italians to establish a foothold in the game, we may find ourselves having to use our bench players to win, which is not a position in which we tend to find ourselves against these opponents.
bench captain impact impetus martin needed scotland shape strong trying undermine
No, it would not. I'm not trying to undermine Martin in any way, shape or form. He's the captain and a very strong one. We needed impetus in Scotland and the bench has made an impact in other games.
people rightly upset
There are a lot of upset and distraught people in the squad, as are the public, and rightly so.
band knew today
We knew over here it was about silencing the crowd, but today the band played.
balance move
We can now move forward. There's always more to come. The balance was good, as was the ambition.
charge cope doubt referee upset
We are very disappointed, and this will hurt, there is no doubt about that. We are upset now, but the referee is in charge and he has called it his way, and we have got to be able to cope with that.
good italy playing respect round team win wins
We know that Italy is a good team and we respect it. It will be important to win because we are playing on the road. There were no away wins in the first round of the competition.
everybody honesty
Everybody will be reviewed, it is important that we have that honesty.
deal team
Every team has injuries, so that is something you have just got to deal with.
considered few hope member monitor next progress squad wales
We will, in conjunction with Gloucester, monitor Phil's progress over the next few weeks, but he will not be considered for the Wales game. I am disappointed for Phil, because he is an outstanding member of the squad and we hope to see him back soon.
