gigs
I get nervous about gigs sometimes, but not with records - I always get excited.
effect might music
'Hatful of Hollow' and 'The Smiths' were lent to me, and they made me want to create music that might make another person feel like they made me feel - to have an effect on someone.
hopefully immune maybe might people realize seem tabloid
Hopefully the tabloid thing has peaked. It doesn't seem to be as big (to us) as what people might think it is. Maybe we are immune to all of it because of everything that's happened. Maybe in 10 years we'll realize what it is.
call die goes music roll sort whatever
Guitar music or rock n' roll or whatever you want to call it sort of goes away with trends, but it'll never go away completely. It can't die because it's so fundamentally attractive.
adventures anymore closed moving music thinking
We're getting a lot of (new) music together. It's all about our adventures at the moment. We don't see Sheffield much anymore ? it's a closed book. We're moving on and thinking about different things.
band best british display grateful gratitude happy people suppose supposed voted
We did the triple, but in all honesty, I suppose we're supposed to display some gratitude. We are grateful because, you know, voted for by the people and all that, we're very happy about that but who else was going to be the best British band at the moment, you know?
appreciate face time
You don't need to be in everyone's face all the time to appreciate what you do.
came meet people record save
You don't meet that many people that you can talk about Roots Manuva with, but that was my favorite in school, this record of his called 'Run Come Save Me.' When I first started writing lyrics, it came from that.
thinking batteries caps
I took the batteries out my mysticism / And put them in my thinking cap
rocks going-away rock-n-roll
Rock'n'roll will never go away completely because it's so fundamentally attractive.
song writing perfection
Every time you write a song, you're looking for some sort of perfection, and you never quite reach it. You're always looking for that extra missing piece.
school kids men
Songwriters always reminded me of that kid at school who would go around with his guitar, like, "Yeah, songwritin' man," looking wistful. That wasn't me - those kinds of people put me off.
fall busy too-busy
Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new.
blind deaf
Love's not only blind but deaf.
