I certainly feel like a third baseman. I don't miss shortstop. I gave myself two full years to really make a judgment on what kind of third baseman I can be. And we're almost there.
I can only say that I need to elevate my game; I'm not happy with it. I'm one of the guys to blame for what's been happening here.
He throws his entire body at you with 96- to 97-mph speed. We took some good swings at him. But he has good stuff. You tip your cap to him.
He threw me a 2-0 slider and I hit it pretty hard, straight into the ground. I thought it had a chance, but he was playing me to pull. Those are the things. When you have so many different opportunities and don't get the big hit . . .
Games like this, you've got to be ready. It seems like we were not quite on our 'A' game.
I don't see it as a big deal at all, ... I look at it as a new challenge. I won two Gold Gloves and an MVP at shortstop. I thought I achieved just about everything personally at shortstop. Now it's time to win. I've always thought of myself as a team player. Playing third base is the ultimate team move.
I don't want to talk about it, so many good things happened tonight. It feels like I got stung pretty good.
He's not in awe of anything or anyone. He's very respectful, but he's been around us for a while now. He feels comfortable, and that's half the battle of being successful here -- knowing these are your peers and if you can hang with them in a social setting, the rest of it follows naturally.
He's incredible. I was telling (Derek) Jeter on the bench what a great hitter he is, even on one leg.
I couldn't be more proud of guys like Derek Jeter, Sheffield, Matsui. They absolutely played incredible. Randy Johnson came back with a warrior-type performance today. Unfortunately, guys like myself didn't contribute. This team has a lot of potential, and we'll be back.
I couldn't believe it ? a 3-2 slider. In that situation, bases loaded, runners are going. They deserve it.
I'm getting used to it pretty quickly. He brings a lot of energy to our lineup, and I'm pretty excited about him being at the top of the order.
I'm going to take a long look in the mirror,
I'm not concerned with what Boston does or Cleveland. We have to play our best baseball down the stretch.
