I really don't concern myself with it at this time of year, ... it kind of doesn't make sense. Usually it happens when you're in a slump.
I reached the conclusion that if I played in the Classic, I would play for the United States and honor my American citizenship. I appreciate the support and understanding of my fellow Dominican players and friends who aided me in making this decision.
His ball was cutting, sinking, going up and down. He had it all working today. Usually, I see him pretty good, but he had us all talking to each other.
I put him up there with Mo (Rivera) as one of the greatest competitors that I've ever played against. It's kind of weird seeing him in a different uniform.
I played great baseball for a year, ... I played like a dog for five games.
I played great baseball all year, ... and I played like a dog the last five days.
In postseason, you can't make mistakes, ... You kind of knew that once that play wasn't made, they were going to score somehow -- even after two outs. That was as routine of a play as it could get. I looked down and I couldn't believe it wasn't in my glove. But you have to move on. You can't dwell on it.
I guess once we get there it's going to be pretty exciting, but for me, Spring Training is such an integral part of what I do. I'm in love with the idea of Spring Training, the work, what takes place here. For me, it's going to be interesting to see how I get my work done there.
I had a great year, something I'm very proud of. I left my guts on the field, I left my heart out there, so I'm not going to hang my head. I'm just going to go out and learn from it and become a better Yankee.
I'm changing my tune a little bit. Nobody's here for money. You're here for pride, and to represent the U.S., and I like that part of it.
If the playoffs are three or four weeks, it's actually five weeks for us. It's already started.
I only spoke (publicly) once, and then I spoke again three months later. All the garbage in between was Major League Baseball. I blame them for that. I don't know who was leaking or what not. ... All this stuff, the back and forth, I would think that was ridiculous, too.

In the spirit of cooperation, I advised the Red Sox I am willing to restructure my contract, but only within the guidelines prescribed by union officials. I recognize the principle involved, and fully support the need to protect the interests of my fellow players.
