I've had Jimmy for the last five years hitting behind me, and I know he's going to click on and drive me in, so there's no need for me to put pressure on myself or chase a ball out of the strike zone. Believe me he's getting hot, so watch out.
There's no need for me to put pressure on myself or try to chase a ball out of the strike zone. If I take the walk, I know he's going to drive me in like he has the last couple of weeks. Believe me, he's getting hot, so watch out.
I don't know what it is, I always have a tough time seeing the ball against him. I don't think it was a bad pitch, it was just my approach to try to hit it back through the middle, and I'm glad it went through.
I'm a line-drive hitter with power. I can drive the ball into the gap, and I'm strong enough to hit it out of the park if I elevate it. No matter how people describe me, it's about staying focused. Don't worry about what people write or say. I don't play for those people. I play to try to get better.
I feel pretty good today. I had a tough night Friday. I couldn't see the ball real well. Yesterday, I made a couple adjustments and it worked out for me. Now I'm seeing the ball pretty good. Hopefully I can keep seeing the ball for another 150 games.
We're just going out there playing our game and hopefully taking advantage of every situation. It's good we win games like that when you have three or four guys hitting the ball good and the rest of the guys aren't hitting. I would love to see what happens when everybody is hitting the ball.
I know I'm good when I'm hitting the ball the other way - that's Albert Pujols.
You don't want to get caught up thinking along with him, because then, he'll sneak something by you. You have to make sure the ball is up and put your best swing on it. He did a real good job tonight keeping the ball down.
I thought we were going to get him. But he found a way to make a pitch and get a ground ball double- play. That's why he's won 14 Gold Gloves.
I know they're going through a tough time. It's terrible to see a great player like that going down, but that's going to happen in your career.
I know the talent that he's got, and it's about time for him to start swinging the bat, because he has some opportunity. I think he has done a great job for us the last couple years we've had him. When we've put him out there to play defense, pinch-run or pinch-hit, anything, he's always done a great job for us.
I'm just taking advantage of what they're giving me. I don't try to do too much. I just try to get on base. Scott and Jimmy (Edmonds) are swinging the bat pretty well right now. I try to get on base so I can score as much as I can.
St. Louis still is going to be a special place for me, whether I'm playing 3,000 miles away or 5,000 miles away.
The fans know and the Cardinals know that I want to be a Cardinal for my whole career. I love this city. The way that this city has embraced me and my family.
