Embree played for the Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox, San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, and the Colorado Rockies. He bats and throws left-handed, and was used as a left-handed specialist. His nickname is "The Gas"...

My leg-kick was always slow and deliberate, ... Earlier this year I started speeding up. They kept saying my velocity was down and I was trying to do something to generate it. I'm going back to the basics. If you're going to throw hard, you've got to let it happen. When you try to add on, you end up taking off.

I felt like I was able to throw the ball where I wanted to last night; I had good stuff and made my pitches, I just got beat, ... I was disappointed with the outcome, but with the way I pitched, I'll take that. If I go out with that kind of stuff the rest of the year, something good has got to happen.

It was nice to be able to throw the ball and hit a spot because I can extend my arm.

Everybody was saying that my fastball was down, so I was trying to make it happen instead of going back to the basics, ... Anytime I've ever forced it, it seems to take away from it instead of adding to it.

They called me into their office, they said their piece, I said my piece -- it was very professional, just tough to take. They were respectful to me. Did I agree with their decision? No. I would have liked to stick around. I told them that over the past 10 days I had made big strides, was close to busting out and that they were making a wrong decision.
