ball life seen tough
We've seen him have a lot of life on his ball before, with that tough cutter. He didn't have it today. ... He still battled, but he did not have a lot on the ball.
fair fastball hit johnson randy runs threw
Randy threw well tonight. We got some things going off of Johnson and when we did, we got some runs out of it. I hit a fastball in, and all I wanted to do was keep it fair and hit it hard.
bat bringing help saw spring upside
Everything is true, from what he's done in the Minors to what we saw in Spring Training. When you have that bat that can help your team, there has to be an upside to bringing him up.
last time tonight won
Every day's pretty big from here on out. It's unfortunate Oakland won tonight and we lose, but it probably won't be the last time that happens.
against good hand late offense scoring
To not let things get out of hand against a good offense is as big as us scoring some late runs.
comforting starters
It's very comforting to look in today's starters and see his name.
defense doubt fun plays
There is no doubt about it. It is a big situation, a big game, a fun game. It is fun to play defense like that and make big plays for your pitcher.
early normally speculate works
It is a little early to speculate or for this to be an issue. You don't have the 3-4 at-bats that you normally would so if I get up, I'll just try and be aggressive. That works for me anyway.
offense played
We didn't play very well. We played well in a couple, but not so well otherwise. Our offense just didn't really get going.
cut freddy great league matter playing seem six stuff tonight work
They seem to be playing pretty good, so everyone in the American League has their work cut out for them. It doesn't really matter that we got to their bullpen. I mean, what's the difference? Freddy didn't have his great stuff tonight and he still battled through six innings.
bats bends handle seem
A lot of new bats have a handle that bends on impact. I don't really like that. They don't seem to have as much pop.
cost days defense pitcher run sharp stay
You're going to have your 0-for-4 days, but you don't want to have days on defense when you're going to cost the pitcher a run or two, so you have to stay sharp on defense.
despite everybody laying league stakes tough understand
Despite their record, they make it tough on you. Everybody in this league comes to play, especially now. They understand the stakes for us, so they're not laying down.
argue bit teams
Offensively, you can argue there are some teams out there that are a little bit more well-balanced than us, especially with the power.
