Our principal, Bernard Rogers, approved the project after I presented him with the outline of what, how, where and to whom Gautier High School students would donate their items. Soon donations of books, bears and buttons (coats) started coming in. Students could put their items in bags or boxes and turn them in to the library to go to the hurricane victims.

Despite what the students were going through, many people were still willing to get involved and donated what they could.

My motivation for this project came from seeing firsthand the destruction that was in place all around me after the hurricane.

I realized that while we may not be able to donate as much as we would have liked if we had not been affected, we can still give of ourselves. People who could not donate items helped by donating their time as we sorted and delivered the goods.
