Four years ago nobody but nuclear physicists had ever heard of the Internet. Today even my cat, Socks, has his own web page. I'm amazed at that. I meet kids all the time, been talking to my cat on the Internet.
[They let] friendship with the leaders in China obscure our devotion to freedom and democracy when those kids set up in Tiananmen Square, and I think it was wrong.
We don't need a constitutional amendment for kids to pray.
One of the things that all kids are taught by their parents is this old "sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me."
In a world with no systems, with chaos, everything becomes a guerilla struggle, and this predictability is not there. And it becomes almost impossible to save lives, educate kids, develop economies, whatever.
Everybody has a gas-guzzling car because people like SUVs. They would like SUVs if they were hybrid vehicles that had the same horsepower and used less gasoline. Instead, what the auto manufacturers are doing is building SUVs that are hybrid vehicles that use the same amount of gasoline because they up the horsepower. That's a decision that they make to market irresponsible economic behavior. The American people like the SUVs, they have kids, they, they need them, they get around in them, but we have options.
Saddam Hussein didn't kill 3,100 people on Sept. 11. Osama bin Laden did, and as far as we know he's still alive.
Poor Darrell Hammond. What's he going to do when I leave office?
Where are the jobs going to come from? Small business, manufacturing and clean energy. Where's the money to finance them? The banks and the corporations in America today have lots of money that they can invest right now.
I still believe in a place called Hope.
Literacy is not a luxury, it is a right and a responsibility.
True Excellence requires a worthy dream, a good Idea of how to realize it and the courage to risk failure to achieve it.
Sincerity? I can fake that.
Never tell anyone to go to hell unless you can make 'em go.
