music thinking wells
Well, I don't think it ever did, but in the early '60s I got interested in folk music.
father thinking boxers
My father was a boxer, though. So, I have a particular interest in Ray Mancini, I think.
thinking safe figures
And I think it's safe to say that the single very impressive figure to me was Merle Haggard.
business thinking wish
That's my only active wish. I think if I sang like Don Henley, this would be a lot more agreeable business.
song writing thinking
I write songs about things that I'm simultaneously trying not to think about.
life thinking dancing
All I can say is what I've always said: If you break your leg, stop thinking about dancing and start decorating the cast.
guns hit send
Send lawyers, guns and money, the shit has hit the fan.
whose
I remember certain lines and whose they are.
learn possible realize took
It took me 10 years to realize that I don't know 'em, 10 years to realize that it's possible to learn them, then another 10 years to learn how to do things.
might phobias
Well, first of all, let me say that I might have made a tactical error in not going to a physician for 20 years. It was one of those phobias that really didn't pay off.
guess total
So I guess I had, I think they tell me I had, about three years total of piano lessons, off and on.
My memory is not even what most people's is, much less what it oughta be for a discussion like this.
box dad discovered few heard late later lyrics months music several sheet sitting song storage tapes tempo until version wrote
This is a song my dad wrote in the late '60s that I discovered in a box of reel-to-reel tapes that were sitting in a storage bin, ... I've had the sheet music for years, but never heard the song until a few months ago and it's one of my favorites. He re-recorded it several years later as 'Steady Rain,' but that was also never released. This version is a combination of the two. It has the tempo and feel, as well as the bridge, from 'Steady Rain,' but the lyrics and instrumentation of 'Warm Rain.'
exquisite influence john later
I also told John Hammond this, 20 years later - to his exquisite embarrassment - that he was like this incredible, overwhelming influence on me.
