both care feeling fight paying personal player respect understand whatever
You have to fight (the players) from feeling like, 'Hey, whatever happens, happens,' ... Somehow, some way, you have to find a way to make them understand that you have to take care of both the personal and the professional. There's nothing disrespectful about paying respect to the player but also paying respect to your profession.
anybody bothers facet good hitting playing
He is playing so good in every facet of the game. He's hitting fourth, and that's because nothing bothers him. He just plays. He's been as important as anybody we have; he's had an outstanding year.
bats both guys handle job larry pitching push terrific took
Guys took their place and did a terrific job with the bats and we were pitching well. We don't have Scott back, but we have Larry and Reggie back. Both of those guys can handle a bat, so you don't push as much with them as you would with some of the other guys.
amidst both couple good guys mistakes point
My point was (Saturday) that amidst all the runs, both of the guys did a lot of good things. (Sunday), Wainwright pitched well, but he made a couple mistakes that he got away with.
both call command excited game good guy hit home plate somebody starts tim tough worry
(Clemens) is tough enough to hit when it's over the plate and if he starts getting a big plate, that's going to be tough for us. I know in our ballpark, both Tim (McClelland) and Greg (Gibson), and I think Wally will, too, will call a good game and not get excited about the home crowd. You always worry when a guy has good command that he can get somebody excited.
believes bothers classic game says separate wants
He's searching. He wants to hit. He believes he can hit. It bothers him when he doesn't hit. But he can separate the game in a classic way, and that says a lot about him.
ball both couple hit throw
If you throw the ball down the middle, they can hit one through the wind, which they've done a couple times both games.
best both excited guys outfield playing second tomorrow
I'm just excited that both of the guys are playing well. That's the best part about second base. The thing about Luna is he's got so much versatility. He can play in the outfield tomorrow if we really want him to.
attention players point prove
It would prove that point that the attention should be on the players and not the managers.
brought couple days expand three tie
Think about it, I brought him into a tie game, how much more do you want to expand the role? He pitched three innings, so it's going to be a couple of days before he's back out there.
academic days guys point resting week
The whole point about resting guys is all academic as of this week because we've got days off, and I don't have to rest anybody,
bad innings last nine pushing time
Every time we play him in the last two-three innings of a game, we're pushing him. It wouldn't be a bad idea for him not to play nine too often.
chance clubs dangerous facing forward gives somebody win
(Opponents) still think he's a dangerous hitter, ... I don't think clubs look forward to facing him. If you think there's somebody who gives you a better chance to win than Larry, you put that person in there. I don't see him.
champion feeling gets great last magic number taught zero
We went through this last year. ... We're not going to get into wild-card formulas. The magic number has got to be zero to celebrate. It is one. ... It's a great feeling to know we're going to play in October, but we've always been taught you're a champion when it gets to zero.
