I think he can be a starter (at cornerback). It might be next year. It might be the fourth or fifth game. It might be a couple weeks after the open date. I could conceivably see that.

I strongly anticipate some of the guys we sign coming in and possibly playing some key roles, especially on defense the way we did this year.

I think the team right now has the mentality that if we play hard for 60 minutes, something can happen to swing it our way. That's hard to instill in a team.

Today the line blocked well, but the play of the backs and receivers stood out. We didn't have any dropped balls that I could remember, the backs ran hard and the quarterbacks were accurate.

If I wasn't familiar with Rob's background and watched his teams play, maybe I'd wonder, ... As long as you've got a plan. I feel comfortable with a plan in place.
against coaching competition field freshmen good guys treated
From a coaching perspective, when those guys are on the field -- against good competition -- there are going to be some errors. But I don't think these freshmen want to be treated as freshmen anymore.

From an evaluation purpose, you don't get that much done.

I don't want one of our really good ones sitting down. If he is better than one of those guys somewhere else, than we will move him over there.

I don't know of anybody. I know he doesn't, and he's been coaching 50-something years.

I couldn't help but think he would get better in that aspect. He shows the desire and has the skills to help us out next year.
