buying cut entire four game philosophy realize six win
They just don't know how to win and they don't know what it takes. They're not buying into my philosophy of doing what you have to do. They don't realize that if they just keep doing what they were doing for the entire game then you can cut (their lead) to four or six and get back in the ballgame.
few matter mean minutes stopped
We stopped doing what we were doing and we let them right back in the game. Then we're tied. No matter what we did in the first few minutes it didn't mean anything.
against geneva good held needed nine problem team
We held a pretty good Geneva team to 25 (first-half) points. That's not terrible. The problem is we only scored nine (points). We weren't doing what we needed to against the press.
ball confidence falling happy movement problem shots
We just couldn't make anything. The shots just weren't falling and I think it's a confidence problem we have. I was happy with the ball movement we had. We just couldn't get it in the basket.
coming defend difficult knew slowing time
You know (Gant) is going to get her points. We have no one that can really defend her, but we knew that we were going to have a difficult time slowing her down coming in.
game giving meant proud themselves
I'm proud of them for getting back into the game and at least giving themselves a chance. It just wasn't meant to be.
came cut intensity lead locker meet quarter second team
That second quarter was very nice. We cut their lead to four. At halftime, I thought we had a chance, but we didn't meet Geneva's intensity out of the locker room. They came out like the 23-3 team they are and put it to us.
answer failed pulled third
We just failed to answer when they started scoring. At first, we'd respond, but then in the third quarter, they just pulled away.
defense job lost point stepped strong
They stepped up their defense and started trapping. We just weren't strong with the ball, but we got the job done. Was I worried? Yeah, but it never got to the point where we completely lost control.
glad people record trouble turned win
A lot of people didn't think we were going to win this game. I'm glad we turned it around. We're better than our record (8-19), but we just have trouble with the little things.
believe carry ourselves quit relying shows starting team telling
I've been telling them that we need to play more as a team and quit relying on Candace (Norville) to carry us. This shows that we're starting to believe in ourselves and each other.
composure nervous type
That's just composure because we're not used to winning. We're not used to having that type of lead. We got a little nervous and it showed.
anybody elbow floor follow looking quicker shoot tendency underneath
She's quicker than anybody on the floor and that's obvious. But if anything, she has a tendency to shoot too quickly. I told her to get her whole body looking at the basket, get your elbow underneath you and follow through. She did that.
heck people scoring
She's a heck of an athlete. We have to have diversified scoring where we get some other people some points.
