If I were a resident of New Orleans and had lost everything that I have, had no home, and possibly had lost a loved one, I really don't think that football is going to help me escape the present position that my family is in, ... I don't really think for those who have been most affected that the NFL is something they're going to be glad to see. ... For those who didn't lose everything, maybe it's a little different.
I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid.
If you play in the NFL and start for 10 years, it's not good. It is not good.
Bottom line is, if you turn the ball over to a team that isn't as good, you then have brought them up to your level.
You've got to stand up and do your own battles. My daddy taught me that a long time ago, that you fight your own battles. The only way to shut everybody up is to win.

I don't remember anything about that one, ... But I do remember the day Joe Jones with the Cleveland Browns picked me up and slammed me down on my head. Man, that hurt. It was the scariest injury I ever had. My body was numb for 24 hours.
At Matthew's age, I looked just like him. It's a perfect fit.
When you're clinically depressed the serotonin in your brain is out of balance and probably always will be out of balance. So I take medication to get that proper balance back. I'll probably have to be on it the rest of my life.
If they wanted to throw out $150,000 ... . That wasn't funny, was it?
No flags. That's the way I looked at it.
I will tell you what I feel, right or wrong. I don't want to do it. I would rather make you laugh. But that's my job. I did it. Archie's mad. I understand.
I sat down with Joey this summer, and I came under the impression, talent aside, here's a young man confused, frustrated, insecure, needs to grow up, and someone who doesn't particularly like some of the people he played for. Didn't appreciate Jeff Garcia. He wanted the compliment that this is his job, and he hasn't been able to handle that. I think he needs to move on.
