missing punch sure trying
I was just trying to make sure the goalie didn't punch me in the head. I wanted to make up for missing in the first half.
excitement guys playing
To be playing LA, in a rematch from '02, there's a little more excitement from the guys who've been around,
best game maybe
This was maybe our best game of the year.
both matter matters realize rhythm start teams
Both teams wanted to get in a rhythm for the playoffs. We realize it doesn't matter how you start the season, it matters how you finish. We're not smiling, yet.
effort heaps jay job played score solid teammates
My job is to get it on the end. . . . I'm not going to score if my teammates don't get it to me. . . . Jay Heaps played great. (Pat) Noonan played great. It was a solid effort all around.
holds hopefully missed pat playing pleasure together
Obviously, we've missed Pat tremendously his play, the way he holds the play up. It's a pleasure playing with him, and hopefully we can do well together in the playoffs.
balls finished good obviously pat played sharp team tonight
Obviously tonight I wasn't as sharp and let the team down a little bit. Pat Noonan played me two very good balls and unfortunately I just finished one of them.
games germany looked obviously road time
Obviously these games are important. Every game is important every time you put on the U.S. jersey. I'm a day by day kind of guy. It's always the way I looked at things. Germany is down the road right now.
brought far grown locker prove shows smiles
I think that brought a lot of smiles in the locker room. That shows how far we've grown as a team. Now, we just need a championship to prove it.
ask forward good hopefully playing stay target timing
My timing may be a little off, but at the end of the day, I'm playing (against Panama), and that's all I can ask for, ... I need to be a good target forward up front, hopefully stay onside and get a goal.
arising bit bruce center earlier help injuries national player practice team whether
It comes with just being a little bit more comfortable. I've been a little snake-bit with injuries when opportunities are arising with the national team. I told Bruce (Arena, U.S. coach) earlier this month, 'I just like being here whether it is being a practice player or being center forward.' I just want to help this team win.
bit chances couple finally forward hopefully missed nice relax target tonight
It is about time. I've had a couple of chances called back. In the first half, I missed one tonight that I should have scored, so it is nice to finally contribute. The first one is always the hardest. It has always been that way. Hopefully I can relax a little bit and be a better target forward for my teammates.
chances couple half missed relax
It is about time. I've had a couple chances called back and in the first half I missed one I should have scored on. The first one is always the hardest, but now I can relax a little bit.
coaches focused goal good help matter outsiders point score scoring teammate true whenever whether
From an outsiders point of view, you're graded on whether you score or not. But that's not true with coaches and teammates. It's also a matter of what I do away from the goal to help the team. I've never focused on just scoring goals. My goal has been to be a good teammate and help out defensively whenever I can.
