alabama beam belief home impressed last national performance plan stuck team tough win year
I was impressed with our performance on beam. It was just like last year at the national championships when we stuck with a plan and had a belief we would win the competition. It was tough going over to beam with the home team on floor, and Alabama is outstanding on floor.
anxious chances floor hit national peak performance team title waiting winning
I feel like we've been waiting for this day a long time. We're anxious to get on the floor and hit our peak performance because we haven't done that yet. We feel like it's our weekend. I'm as comfortable with this team's chances of winning a national title as any other team we've had.
cocky girls past season sure teaching teams terms textbook
It's important to make sure (the gymnasts) don't get overconfident or too cocky or too arrogant. We've had teams in the past that would've responded to that (ranking), but these girls are not like that. They're very professional in their approach. It's been pretty much a textbook season in terms of us teaching and them responding.
came definitely everybody meet single team tonight
It's definitely all about the team and so many of the individuals came through. Tonight was a meet about everybody in the lineup. Every single person contributed to our team score. I like to see everyone contributing.
hold lose lower ranked team
When you're a lower ranked team or an underdog, you can have a go-for-it attitude. You have nothing to lose when you're in that situation. You don't have anything to lose, you don't have to hold back.
affected few order people rhythm team tonight work
We did not look like a championship team tonight. We've got a long way to go and a lot of work to do. We need to get back into our rhythm because we got out of our rhythm tonight. We competed a few people in a different order tonight and I think that affected our performance.
fall teams testament three
Not many teams can fall three times and still win. But that's a testament to our team and the girls.
force nobody pressure relaxed team touch
If our team is focused, relaxed under pressure and in sync, we are a force. Nobody can touch us.
team heart gymnastics
All the hands, hearts and minds of the individuals collectively contribute to the team's success. (listen to your team, watch their body language, share your expectations . . . work together.)
certainly courtney earned gets hers katie meet moments places talked tonight zone
Courtney just gets better and better. There were places tonight where she could have earned a 10. We talked about zone moments before the meet and she certainly had hers tonight. And Katie and Kelsey keep getting better.
beginning confidence difficult downs improvement last low performance ups
We had a lot of ups and downs today. We had some 9.9s and some low scores. You could tell it was the beginning of the season. The landings are still difficult and they do not have the confidence that they need to have. But that's just because it's the beginning of the season. Today's performance was a significant improvement from last week.
event felt major mistake night picked proud qualified relief slow super
For me, this is such a relief that this night is over and we are qualified for Super Six. I felt we started out a little slow for us, but I'm most proud that we made a major mistake on every event and no one got rattled. We just picked it up.
apart believe believed meets pressure won
I believe we won those meets because we believed we could. I think that's what has set us apart in those pressure situations.
beam champion courtney national perfect personally proud
To have Courtney be the national beam champion is something I'm personally proud of. You have to be perfect to be the beam champion.
