We are very excited about the addition of Tim Ward. He is a very good young player with a bright future ahead of him and he can play a number of different positions.
We don't want to push him too quickly too early. With a player like Duncan, you need to be careful because he is the type of guy that gives you everything he has. We have to keep the reins on him.
Sebastian is a very attractive player. He has a huge pedigree in soccer and he has a strong desire to play in the States. He has the potential to be an impact player in this league.
It is a competitive position, but I don't think any player should lose his position due to injury. When you are out a long time, it gets a little bit harder.
Adding Ezra is a big plus for us. He has championship experience and is a player who I have a long and positive history with and who will be a valuable addition to our team.
Joel is a versatile defender who was here for our mini-camp in November. He can play centrally or on the right and is a young player with great potential.
I want to those three guys not to be fringe national team players, but national team players as the team prepares for the World Cup in 2010.
He is the type of player that has a tremendous desire to win. He needs to be an example to our younger players. He needs to be a vocal player, but he can't do any of that until he gets on the field, so first he needs to get healthy.
All three of those players have tremendous potential rewards. Each one needs to add a different element to their game to get them to the next level. My objective is to get the best out of them.
We talked about doing this two weeks ago. It has nothing to do with the last game. Neither he nor Kyle Martino were as effective as they needed to be, but our expectations for him are still very high.
Between those two, we definitely need someone to step up and talk. Marshall has been in the league for a while and hopefully that will come more from him. I think Marcos is willing to talk, but he just needs to learn the language a little better.
Sometimes you've got to go with what your gut tells you, and my gut said this is a move we needed to make. ... One thing Eddie gives us is versatility.
We should have scored more. Their keeper came up big a couple of times, but we had a few chances that we needed to finish on.
We played much better in the first half. I thought Chad's goal was a good one off the free kick. We should have scored a couple more. I thought Chad Marshall was very good. Can't say the same about everyone that played in the second half, giving up soft goals.
