When you get hard work you get success, and we put a lot of years into it.
I wore combat boots for two albums, then I went into more of the sparkle and glamour. The older that I've become, I've felt very connected to fashion, especially this past year working with [stylist] Kate Young and creating these relationships with people that I never had before.
These past years have been really transitional for me in every aspect - personally, emotionally and professionally. Music is not a very stable business. It comes and it goes, and so does money, but your education stays with you for the rest of your life. When you have that education, and you have nothing to fall back on, you can get a get a job anywhere.
When a child does bad things, the parents are always going to love their child even if they do something bad.

When I'm singing, I'm another person. I can be really free, in the sense that I can do whatever I want.

What's really cool about our family is that we don't hold grudges, and I think that is what's been the key to the success. We get into our little disagreements, and whether we're right or wrong, we'll go and apologize. That's just the way we are.
