ball came caught chance control eventually extend inside lead smith
We wanted to extend the lead to 15 or 18. We had a real chance to control the game. (Boston College) battled back. They got the ball inside and chipped away. They eventually caught us. Dudley and Smith came up big for them.
aggressive ball bit clock defensive inside lost maybe minutes period played relaxed run season several shot
I thought the first 25 minutes is maybe as well as we played all season long. We went through a period then where we relaxed a little bit. The defensive end lost a little bit of our aggressiveness and then offensively we weren't aggressive in getting the ball inside and let the shot clock run down several times.
against basketball certainly last mean odds won
In basketball, you still have hope. You still have a chance. We've won the last two Big 12 tournaments. The odds certainly would be against us but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.
circumstance faced kept played players positive proud throughout
I'm very proud of our players under the circumstances they were faced with today. They kept a positive mind-set throughout the day and I thought they played with a lot of energy.
confusion early good job mixing zone
They did a good job mixing up the zone defense, and there was a lot of confusion on our part early on.
address aware calls concerns conversation dad issue phone taking
We had some concerns what was going on with some phone calls that had been going on during the summer. I know my dad had a conversation with Kelvin to address those concerns. We were told Kelvin was not aware of those things taking place, that he would address it and it would not be an issue in the future.
four games guys win
To win four games you have to be able to have depth. You have to be able to rotate guys in and out, and it's something that we'll try to monitor, but at the same time, you've got to try to win.
confidence defend dig trouble
This is a disappointing setback. We still have confidence in our players, but we can't do the things that got us in trouble tonight. We didn't dig in and defend and we didn't rebound.
carry continue hope momentum motivated next team
That team in '96 would not have been motivated to continue playing. This team will respond. We hope to play well and carry some momentum into next season.
admiration behind courage family great proud stands support tough
I have great admiration for my father. We are proud of the courage he has exhibited this evening, and our family stands behind him and will support him through these tough days.
expecting focus hard mind oklahoma positive possible responsibility state week
My focus all week has been on our players. They didn't come to Oklahoma State expecting this to happen. It's been hard on them. But I have a responsibility to them and to this school. I try to keep that in my mind as much as possible and keep a positive outlook.
anybody change people proud regardless standing tonight
I was standing pretty close, but it's not going to change anything. I told them regardless of how you feel right now, there's nothing that I could say or anybody could say that is going to change the outcome. Just know that you made a lot of people proud tonight with your effort.
beat chance fought good half kansas lead legitimate maybe position proud second sweet type
I was really proud of our team's second half effort, the way they fought back and got the lead and got us in position to have a chance to beat a very good team. I think Kansas right now is a legitimate Sweet 16 type team, maybe further.
good happen hard kept needed obviously oklahoma proud state telling week work
Obviously I'm very proud of our players. We needed that. Oklahoma State needed that. I kept telling them all week long that if they would work hard and listen, then good things would happen and they would be rewarded.
