days games good problem start
It's good because after two days or so, you start to feel comfortable again. So it shouldn't be a problem when the games start.
few hope ice seeing start week
I hope to go on the ice a few times with my son. I'll do some conditioning, but if you're away from seeing pucks for a week or so, you'll start to have some rust.
bench games night people pitcher season starter starting vice
Especially in the U.S., people liken it to a starting pitcher or a starting quarterback, and hockey's different. You're the starter the night you're playing. The night you're not, you're the backup. I don't think a lot about it. You could be the starter to start the season and then two games into the season you find yourself on the bench and vice versa.
behind biggest due fact felt gain good ground hard imagine knew needed realize reason starting teams win won
This felt good for a lot of reasons, but the biggest reason is because we needed a win bad. It's hard to imagine having to say that in January. We knew there were some teams behind us that were starting to gain some ground due to the fact that we haven't won a lot lately. But we know what has to be done. I don't think we have to look at the standings to realize we're not where we want to be.
again formula home points putting start win
Right now, we've got to find a way to win home or away. We've got to find that formula again and start putting some points on the board.
behind build continue desperate gain hockey knew realize starting teams
Obviously, we knew some teams behind us were starting to gain some ground. We know what has to be done. We don't need to look at the standings to realize we aren't where we want to be. We need to be a desperate hockey team. This was something to build on, and we've got to continue to do that.
best hard playing seen start team worry
I haven't seen anything like this in my 16 years in this league, ... What am I going to say? You've got to think about what's best for the team and you don't worry about individuals. Everybody's playing hard to keep this thing going right now, and I'm not going to start anything.
areas bad confident contagious fighting good guy hard starting struggling team
Individually we're all struggling confidence-wise. It's hard for your team to be confident when you don't have a lot of individuals who are confident. We're fighting it in a lot of areas of our game. It's up to each guy to find his game, starting with the goaltenders out. And that'll be as contagious in a good way as this is contagious right now in a bad way.
knew throw
We knew they would throw everything at us.
couple days felt game good last nervous
It felt good to play, but it felt better to play and get a win. I was more nervous the last couple of days than I usually am, and I thought about the game more than I usually do. But once I got out on the ice, I felt good.
benny talk
I still talk to Benny a little bit,
care minds
Our minds weren't in it. When that happens, I don't care who you are playing, you're going to get smoked.
disgusted fans giving ice knowing player sit standing totally watch
I was embarrassed. You don't want to be standing out there on the ice as a player knowing that fans are just totally disgusted and you're not even giving them their money's worth. I think we're embarrassed for ourselves, but we were embarrassed for them, too, to have to sit there and watch it.
angles catch clear defense rebounds shots took trying
I thought they took some funny-angle shots in the beginning, trying to catch me. But the rebounds just bounced out from those angles and you're going to give up some rebounds, but our defense was right there to clear them away.
