We were able to pressure them, and they wanted to play a half-court game. We took them out of their half court game as much as we could by pressing them pretty much the whole night.

Over the last four games, I've let him call our pitches. He's done a good job of calling the games. You have to be able to understand the game to call pitches. I've always liked to have the catcher calling the pitches because a coach can only see so much.

I grew up with my cousins, who were as close as brothers, and frankly, I didn't like what girls were expected to do. I liked horseback riding, playing football, going to rodeos. I was hoping we wouldn't have to catch him, but his knee is holding up fine. He's always done a good job back there. He's had a couple of passed balls, but that's from not being back there the last two years. He's thrown some guys out on the bases.

Since I am first of all a character writer, that character's emotions are as vivid to me as my own. I always begin with an emotion after I have established a character in my mind. I feel what they feel. I guess that is why it comes across so strongly.
