ability athletic football good mean prepared preparing shows similar
Being here doesn't mean you're a good football player, but it shows that you at least have the athletic ability to play at that level. Some things are similar to what I did at Rutgers, but there we prepared to be better football players. Here we're preparing to be better test-takers.
couple doctors playing saying walking worried
(Doctors) were saying we can't tell you if you are going to play again. A couple of doctors were saying we're more worried about you walking than playing football.
best team
I still think this is the best team we've ever had.
believes foundation great happy laid shows university
I'm so happy for coach. It shows that the university believes in him to give him that extension. He really laid a great foundation for this program.
beginning built game goal great leading leave leaving program stronger uphill win year
My goal at the beginning of the year was just to win every game we could, but more importantly to leave this program going to where it's going to be able to win championships. To where it's going to be built stronger and stronger. I think we accomplished that. Obviously, we didn't win every game, but I'll be leaving this program uphill and really leading to great things.
believed dozen gone high last rather schools
This was the last place I'd want to go. There were probably a dozen I-AA schools I would have rather gone to when I was in high school. But I just believed in what he was saying.
came everybody happiness happy
Everybody said we wouldn't go, but I'm happy I came here.
best bigger deal hear people
We hear a lot of it. But all I say is, I'm going to do my best and play my best. That's not up to me after the season. That's up to the administration. I think people make a bigger deal out of it than they should be making.
against ball best defensive far good job line offensive opportunity played pressure rush solid success throw year
They're very solid up front, one of the best we've played against this year as far as the offensive line. But they're going to throw the ball a lot. I think I'm going to get an opportunity to rush the passer. For us to have success in this game, our defensive line is going to have to do a very good job of getting pressure on the quarterback.
people
A lot of people thought I wouldn't be able to play again.
defensive pass run surprised wants
That one surprised me, Every defensive lineman wants to run pass routes. I think it went very well.
bring handle matter obviously prepare teams
I think it has to be that way every week, no matter who you play. Obviously you have to prepare for different things that different teams bring to the table, but if you can't handle your own assignments on each play, then you're going to have problems.
birthday close forced game games giants guys highest house level lived phil played remember son supposed taught
He played at the highest level and he taught me the way the game was supposed to be played. The game was never forced on me. But I wanted to be just like Dad. Guys from the Giants were always around. Phil Simms lived close by. He was over the house a lot and I used to always go to his son Chris' birthday parties. I used to go to the all games but I don't remember them. I was only 3 when he retired.
