We've thrown around the concept of opening for the Stones forever. I can't believe we're doing it.
When I was growing up, I gravitated from one extreme to the other. I didn't know a middle ground.
That's pretty good for a Rolling Stones concert. Maybe we're crossing over.
It's amazing how 13 years into it, there's still stuff to say -- and people who want to hear it. We've been through so much stuff over the years.... We've really tried to focus on the music, and push ourselves... and it's awesome that people are still responding to what we're doing.
We worked hard on this record, not that we don't on all of them. This one has fire in it. It takes us from those all-too-familiar beer joints that we cut our teeth in to the front row of church. I feel like we're barely scratching the surface with the first single 'Play Something Country,' because there's so much more on this record.
In an age of social media and content being key, it's important to change the mold where you have $100,000 to $150,000 for one video. I hired some guys that are young, just out of college, and we used some new, far-less-expensive cameras and technology to make videos.
I grew up very modest, and I never forget that.
I grew up in trailer houses in New Mexico, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma.
I don't walk around with a cowboy hat. I did get a tattoo that says 'cowboy' that's a bit of an over-compensation, probably.
I don't have any hobbies. Music is my hobby.
I don't even know how to spell 'legacy!
I do have to step out and take time to let people know that I'm Ronnie Dunn and not Brooks and Dunn.
During college I realized I had a music predisposition and really got involved in it. I started playing bass guitar. That was how I began to fit in.
When I get all focused on songwriting, I get into all the marketing and promotion that we do to make it happen. Then the right song comes along and blows it all out of the water. The right song will do it for you every time.
