bit clock defensive effective ready scoreboard smart squash understand works
I think he's a lot more ready offensively than he was, but I still get on him about defensive lapses. There's a little bit Riverboat Gambler, which makes him effective offensively so you don't want to squash that too much. But you try to make him understand how the scoreboard works and the clock and how you have to make smart plays.
expect four goals job joe jump score sit three
We can't sit back and expect Joe to score three or four goals and we jump on his back. He has to do his job and we have to do our job.
amongst common hard light net red score wants
Each one of them wants to score so bad, they go to the net hard and they live to see the red light go on. That's what's common amongst them all.
against best goal home league particular score team
They did not score one even-strength goal against us in this building, and they were the best home team in the league this year. That's a real confidence-booster for our whole team, and in particular our defense.
five game potent power score six stay
We've got, I think, a very potent power play. All indications are it (the calls) should stay the same -- and we'll get five or six opportunities a game and we're going to have to score at least one.
basically cynic goals grind joe might pass playing score third truth work
A cynic might say he's profiting from playing with Joe Thornton, and there's some truth to that, but he did score 28 goals without a pass from Joe Thornton two years ago. And he basically was playing on a grind line, a third line, doing a lot of the work himself.
exceeding far score
I thought he could score 40 this year, and now he's there. He's exceeding all my expectations as far as I'm concerned.
best boost building confidence goal home mattered proud score team
What I'm proud about, 5-on-5, when it mattered most, they couldn't get anything going. They did not score one even-strength goal in (their) building and they were the best home team in the league. That has to be a real confidence boost for our team, especially our defense.
distance ended goal last score shoot
I never would have thought he'd score the last goal from that distance with the goalie set. You're thinking, 'OK, just shoot it' and the goalie whiffed on it. That ended up being the difference.
happens point puck season stick
We had the puck on our stick and didn't get it out of the zone. And when something like that happens at this point of the season it's inexcusable.
hung job
We hung in there and got the job done.
expected flat period second signal
We expected that in the first period and I thought we responded. I just didn't think that would signal the flat second period we had. We were awful.
focus handling mistakes people puck
We don't want him handling the puck as much as he does, and yet he does and he makes mistakes like he did. His focus has got to be on the puck and not what other people are doing.
aware chart stand team
We're very aware, we've got a chart up. I try to make everyone on the team aware of where we stand and what we have to do to make the playoffs.
