advantage ball ended hard hitting kid knocking mistakes nice perfect physical skip slide strikes throw timely took
We got some timely hitting and took advantage of some physical mistakes. Skip put the ball in play with two strikes and made something happen. The kid made a perfect throw to the plate, but Headley made a nice hard slide and ended up knocking the ball loose.
ball bat deep definitely drew good head hit job last nice pulled score struck took
Drew did a nice job in his last two at-bats. He struck out in his first two. He took some good swings, but he pulled his head a little bit. He was a little over-anxious, maybe. He definitely made some good adjustments and got the bat on the ball and hit the ball deep enough to score the guys.
based best circumstance fortune guys left
We haven't had the best of fortune with those guys. Left and center, we've been rotating guys based on circumstances.
either mentally talked themselves today tomorrow
Today was not one of our better games, by any means, either mentally or physically. That's what we talked about. They'll come out tomorrow and get themselves ready.
attacked guys strike tough trying work zone
They attacked the strike zone. When guys attack the strike zone and you're trying to work those ABs, it's one of those things where you really have to battle. When you get guys like that (throwing strikes), it's a tough battle.
base extra giving nice
What were there, (eight) singles? He wasn't giving up extra base hits, and he was around the plate. He did a real nice job.
It got a little squeaky there at the end, but (Davidson and Jamison) got us through.
base everybody happened happens sends somebody stay tonight until
It happens sometimes. Tonight it happened to us, so we'll use it to make a correction. Everybody has to understand: You stay on the base until somebody sends you back.
behind catching good great handling job plate wears
He's been catching every day, and for a big guy, that wears on him. But he's been very good for us. Even when he's not hitting, he's been doing a great job behind the plate handling the pitchers.
badly both good pitchers played
Overall, it was a not a badly played game. Both pitchers did a good job. I even thought Burke did a good job.
zone
He was up in the zone a little too much.
ball bat great needed
He did a great job. He put the bat on the ball and put it deep, which was what he needed to.
arm came certain decent good hat pitches tip
He had a good arm and he came right after us. The kid's pretty good. I have to tip my hat to him. I thought he made some decent pitches in certain situations.
comfort guys level obviously playing
Being able to play guys every day is obviously a plus, because there's a comfort level with those guys being out there and playing with each other.
