finding goal knack
I've always had a knack for finding the goal line,
ball drop fall happen matter rather reminder whether
It doesn't matter whether it's the first day or not. You drop the ball or you fumble the ball or you fall down, you do the push-ups. That's a reminder those things are important. You'd rather have them happen now than during the season.
ball came caught fast flipped option running shake skilled took
The quarterback they had was real fast, they had very skilled guys, a very fast running back. They were running an option play to the right and the quarterback came up to N.D. and went to shake N.D. and flipped the ball out for the option to the running back and N.D. caught it in midair and took it 75 yards.
biggest camp difference guys hats playing red seen showing speed tempo
The biggest difference I've seen through (training) camp and through the offseason was just the speed and tempo and also the aggressiveness they have been playing with. There are a lot more guys showing up on film and a lot more red hats around the ball.
game played state
It was the game before we played (Odessa) Permian (in the state finals),
ball far felt knew move offensive perfect seven side situation
We felt like we had to play perfect considering the situation we were under. We had to come back from being seven behind, then 10 and then 14 points. That's a situation where you can't make mistakes. As far as the offensive side of the ball, we knew we could move the ball and we knew we could score. But like I said, we didn't play a perfect game.
details holes offensive tune uniform
I see it all. I see your uniform number. I see the details in your hairstyle. That's when I really feel I'm in tune with what my offensive linemen are doing and I can just see holes opening.
beyond playing
I never really thought about playing beyond 10 years,
fewer involved larry together
I don't think I'll have fewer opportunities. I like the idea of getting Larry more involved in the offense. I really like the idea of the two of us in the backfield together some of the time. But I don't really see me getting fewer chances. Why would that happen?
ninth
This is my ninth year, and I feel real good.
running games chess
Chess is a time game, it’s a game of patience. That pretty much defines how I run the ball.
sports football running
...chess is "a lot like football because you have to set up your offense and your defense, every once in a while you need to give up a piece of your team in order to make the big play. It's a game of patience, and that pretty much defines how I run the ball. I'm patient, always looking for the opportunity and always trying to capitalize on the other person's mistake."
player thinking defense
I really like defensive players. I've never played defense so I often wonder how they think.
ability doubted
I've never doubted my ability.
