bases best bring debut downhill figured guy league major throwing tough
It's tough to bring in a guy for his Major League debut with the bases loaded. But I figured everything will be downhill after that. Ollie wasn't throwing strikes, and I figured that was the best way to go at the time.
best job sake stay sure tough upbeat
You just have to be tough enough to do your job and put everything aside. You try to stay upbeat for the players' sake so that they are positive. You've got to make sure that they don't get down. It's not a lot of fun, but you do the best you can.
close helping looks point team totally
It's important he plays, but not to the point that he's totally frustrated. It looks to me like he's close to being totally frustrated. I'm going to try to look after him a little bit. He's really not helping the team at this point in time.
hid tips
We hid all the carts. And we steel-reinforced the tips of his shoes.
far fresh
As far as I'm concerned, there's a fresh slate.
again few hits score
One of those things. I'd like to think that, if we got 15 hits again tomorrow, we'd score a few more than two runs.
best couple difficult easy last magic positive three
Mac's a very competitive person and this has been difficult for him the last couple of weeks. It's not easy when you're not winning. ... I don't have a magic bullet, but I'm going to do the best I can to get something positive out of the last three weeks.
appreciate help jerry job spring welcome
I feel very welcome here. Jerry called me right after I got the job and told me he wanted me here in the spring to help out, and I appreciate that. I feel like this is where I belong.
beat david fame good guys hall honest roger thrill
David and Goliath. I didn't think Roger was at his best, to be honest with you. But I think it is a thrill for us to beat him. I think the guys have got to feel good about themselves. He's a Hall of Fame pitcher, and we beat him.
year
There's a lot of upheaval. We're vagabonds. We live year to year.
freddy left might playing side win
I'll tell you: I like having two shortstops on the left side of the infield. What you don't get from him in power, he might make up for you with his defense. You can win with Freddy Sanchez playing third.
game hitting streak win
I know it's unfortunate, but that's the way things go. It's like when a guy's got a hitting streak and you need to win a game so you pinch-hit him and he doesn't get a hit. He'll have opportunities to have streaks again.
counts putt standing
He's faltering once in a while. I don't know why. Standing over a 3-foot putt when it counts is a lot different than airing out your driver.
careful decided early good guy late looked pitchers pitches three threw
He threw 74 pitches and hadn't pitched in a while, so we just decided to be careful with it. Not that I wanted to, because we need pitchers to go late in the game. I thought he was pretty good. He had more pitches early than he probably wanted, but he looked very good for a guy who hasn't pitched in three weeks.
