anybody blame change extremely figured group hang hard inside last locker practiced single slowly start week
This group has slowly figured out that we can't blame it on anybody else, that we can't hang our heads. If we want to change this, it's got to start inside our locker room. I would say over the last week or 10 days, we've really practiced extremely hard every single time.
earlier gifted last starting understand year
He's starting to understand some of the little things you have to do. He's a talented, gifted scorer who can rebound. Defensively, off the ball, he's much, much better than he was last year or even earlier this year.
build five goes start took wiped
It goes without saying, we start all over, we start from scratch. It's unfortunate that what took five years to build was wiped away with one season.
definitely earn guys looking role starting three
He's going to have to earn (the starting job). I don't think you give a role that important, you don't just give it away to somebody. He's definitely one of the two guys, three guys we're looking at.
capable earn goes good guard handle hard point role starting tendency
He's going to have to earn it. I don't think, for a role that important, you just give it to somebody. I feel like I have a good handle on what he's capable of from a basketball-playing standpoint. But there's a lot more that goes into the starting point guard role for our team. I have a tendency to be hard on those guys.
coaching energy entire locker obviously reason room second seem start type
For this entire streak, for some reason or another, we just can't some out of the locker room with the type of energy we need. As I told the guys, it's obviously something we're doing as a coaching staff. We just can't seem to get things going at the start of the second half.
athletics floor great ground plays remind starting steals three
He's a great athlete, and I always remind him that he can make plays off the ball. I don't think he understands how much ground he covers. I think you're starting to see that. He had three steals today. He's starting to see the floor better.
capable happen knew level rut talent work
I knew it was going to happen because I know his talent level and I know what he's capable of. But when he was in rut he was in, I didn't know if he was going to work his way out of it.
best coaching credit everybody guys men offer prepare punch staff worn year
They have to prepare for the best punch everybody has to offer every game. How those guys don't get worn down by it year after year after year is a credit to the coaching staff and the young men who come in and put on that uniform.
appreciate ball craig crunch smith unless watching
They know when it's crunch time, they've got to get the ball to Craig Smith or they're getting the ball to Jared Dudley. I appreciate watching them - unless you're on the other end of the bench.
convinced injuries lewis suffered talent
Talent-wise, I'm convinced we can be competitive. But we've suffered injuries to Lewis and now Mario. It's a long season, and we're getting better.
balls good seemed
It seemed like a lot of balls rolled right off the rim. We were getting some good looks. They just wouldn't fall.
game improving month step took until
This was the first game in about a month where I don't feel like we took a step forward. We'd been improving every game up until today.
aspect basketball believe create decisions kids mature mistakes player represent school situation somebody team understand
Believe me, I understand the whole aspect that kids have to represent their team and their school and their family, but mistakes are going to be made. Because somebody is an 18-year-old basketball player doesn't create a situation where that person is going to make decisions that are any more mature than another 18-year-old.
