A lot of people don't like to lose. Chad doesn't accept it. He goes to work and doesn't let it happen again. He doesn't like to be shown up. He has a level of competitiveness inside of him that I've never seen inside anyone else, except maybe Michael Jordan.

I knew what made him tick. Most people, when they get mad, they don't perform as well. Chad is the exception to that. It motivates him.

She was his biggest supporter. Every time he skated she was there. She was always there. So this meant a lot to him.

She went everywhere we went. She was always there whenever he skated or played ball. She always told me Chad was going to be the best at whatever he did.

He just showed a lot of heart in that race the way he came back there to get second when he was pretty tired. I'm really proud of him. Now he's got one of each medal - a full house!

If you had told me when he made the switch that he would be on the Olympic team, I would have said he had a great shot. But if you had talked about winning World Cups and world championships, I would have said let's wait and see.

Chad always had his own style. When he first went out to a clinic at the Olympic Training Center (in Colorado Springs), they sent home a report card saying 'Bad technique. Skates fast.' That's kind of funny. Three or four years later, everybody was trying to copy it.
