Before I got the job, Jon never had the opportunity to go more than six, seven innings. They always pulled him out, and all of a sudden I give him the chance and he took advantage. I think this kid's arm is there. This kid gives 200 innings every year, he never misses a start. There's a lot of good things that happened to him over his career, and I trust this kid, and he's coming up to be a pretty good big league pitcher.

It took the Minnesota Twins to make me think we have to change. I knew they don't have any superstars, but they kept winning. When me and Kenny make the decision to change this team, we talked a lot because it was not easy. The only way we could build this team was around pitching and defense and speed.

I learned a lesson. I never took a first shot at anybody in my life and now I feel like I took the first shot. I feel embarrassed, I feel guilty. I wish I had not said it the way it sounds or the way I said it.
