arm chance coming gives good happened innings jon kid league misses opportunity pulled seven sudden took trust
Before I got the job, Jon never had the opportunity to go more than six, seven innings. They always pulled him out, and all of a sudden I give him the chance and he took advantage. I think this kid's arm is there. This kid gives 200 innings every year, he never misses a start. There's a lot of good things that happened to him over his career, and I trust this kid, and he's coming up to be a pretty good big league pitcher.
kid men plays reason risk second solid thinking third
I was thinking we'd have men on second and third and one out. There was a lot of risk ... But this kid is a real solid second baseman. That is one reason he plays every day.
ball bottom consistent field good hit hitters kid middle pull swinging trying wish
I think he's swinging at better pitches. He's not trying to pull everything. He's trying to hit the ball into the middle of the field and right field. We wish this kid would be more consistent with that. When this kid is on, he's on for good and we need those hitters at the bottom of the lineup.
excuse giving hurt kid
I don't want this kid just to make an excuse that he was hurt just because he was giving it up.
excuse giving hurt kid
I don't want this kid just to make an excuse like he was hurt just because he was giving it up,
booing class jim kid people played tip
Brutal. I think it's really disappointing. ... The way this kid played in this town, people should tip their caps. ... I thought it was kind of embarrassing. Booing Jim Thome ? you don't boo a class act.
chance gets hit kid park stays
If this kid stays healthy, he has a chance to hit a lot more homers, especially in this park. In the summer, this park gets smaller.
disrespect house kids white
I don't disrespect anybody. I want to make that clear. I'm not going to the White House because my kids are more important than anything in my life.
arm attack best confidence everybody game guys kid matter months pitching strikes throw time town win won
Two months ago everybody wanted to kill this kid and get him out of town because he was pitching horrible. Jose had always had the best arm on my team. It's a matter of time when he can use that. It's a matter of confidence. This kid won a big game for us and he showed the guys when you have confidence and throw strikes and attack the strike zone, you can win a lot of games.
kid stuff year
That kid has been doing the same stuff all year long.
amazing arm best came confidence doubt job keeping kid last matter mechanics pitches throwing time year
It's an amazing job this kid did over the last year and a half, ... This kid came in with a lot of problems, mechanics and keeping his pitches down. I always say Contreras got the best arm on my staff. There's not a doubt about it. It was a matter of time when he got more confidence and he was throwing more strikes.
ball careful forget kid listen people punished upset winter
Was I real upset about it? Yes. Sometimes you have to be careful with who you listen to. Sometimes you listen to the people that think it's right for them and forget about the kid. Winter ball is over, and I think they punished him for that. I'm not going to take anything away from this kid to make the club.
baseball best kid last pitcher
To me, this kid is the best pitcher in baseball right now, ... He's been the best the last two years.
ace april bobby kid last playoffs starter win
This kid went from my last starter to No.1 in the playoffs for us. If you told me in April that Contreras was going to be my ace and Bobby Jenks was going to be my closer, I would tell you I don't think we're going to win this.
