I've decided I will open the door to all books as potential Oprah's Book Club selections, ... I feel this will give the book club a whole new range of opportunities to explore the world through words.
It's been a secret dream of mine to be part of Broadway, ... I hope to be able to do for this production some of what I've been able to do for books - that is, to open the door to the possibilities for a world of people who have never been or even thought of going to a Broadway show.
I wanted to open the door and broaden the field, ... That allows me the opportunity to do what I like to do most, which is sit and talk to authors about their work. It's kind of hard to do that when they're dead.
The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. .... There are no back doors, no free rides. There's just you, this moment and a choice.
That's what life is: an open door to all that is possible. And that's a powerful thing.
Step through new doors. The majority of the time there's something fantastic on the other side.
And how do you know when you're doing something right? How do you know that? It feels so. What I know now is that feelings are really your GPS system for life. When you're supposed to do something or not supposed to do something, your emotional guidance system lets you know. The trick is to learn to check your ego at the door and start checking your gut instead.
Books showed me there were possibilities in life, that there were actually people like me living in a world I could not only aspire to but attain. Reading gave me hope. For me, it was the open door.
I can't imagine I could have become the person I am now without books. Books became synonymous with freedom. They showed that you could open doors and walk through.
Opportunity may knock only once but temptation leans on the door bell
Check your ego at the door and check your gut instead. Every right decision I have ever made has come from my gut. Every wrong decision I've made was the result of me not listening to the greater voice of myself
What I know for sure is this: The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal for this year is, you can get there - as long as you're willing to be honest with yourself about the preparation and work involved. There are no back doors, no free rides. There's just you, this moment, and a choice.
I hope... to open the door to the possibilities for a world of people who have never been or even thought of going to a Broadway show.
I speak to millions every day, but it's different one-on-one when people have paid to hear you say something meaningful.
