Nikki Sixxis an American musician, songwriter, radio host, and photographer, best known as the co-founder, bassist, and primary songwriter of the band Mötley Crüe. I'm sober, and I'm sick. I'm sick in the head. And all that support and all that great stuff around me allows my artistic side to be even more demented.
When we were younger, you know, small stuff was small stuff. But we turned it into big stuff. It's just part of being young.
We've all grown up a lot, and we realize that small stuff is just small stuff, and we look at the big picture on every level. We think about the future, we think about music, and how to make music the best we can. There's nothing petty going on. It's very focused.
Reflecting back, we all make mistakes; we all go through our stuff - relationships, financial, all kinds of stuff - and if you can grow from that and pass that message on, it's a pretty cool thing.
I've got my fingers in many pies and I'm very excited about creating stuff and watching it blossom and bloom and harvest it and get on with the next thing.
We want to keep extending our brand into different places, into movies and soundtracks and our music will live on through licensing and our brand lives on through merchandise and new generations will get to wear our clothing and our T-shirts and stuff that's associated with us.
When I photograph someone, I want to shoot the subject and get them out of my studio so I can play with the photos and do all the stuff I want.
We go to do the Billboard Music Awards to be a presenter, and we walk on stage, and we get a standing ovation from the industry.
And there's one thing that we all agree on in the band, which is: It's more important to have a great record than to rush getting it out.
