Duty is a very personal thing. It is what comes from knowing the need to take action and not just a need to urge others to do something.
We need to realize that poverty doesn't only consist of being hungry for bread, but rather it is a tremendous hunger for human dignity. We need to love and to be someone for someone else
Holiness is not a privilege of a few but a need for all.
People are hungry for God. Do you see that? Quite often we look but do not see. We are all passing through this world. We need to open our eyes and see.
I will never tire of repeating this: what the poor need the most is not pity but love. They need to feel respect for their human dignity, which is neither less nor different from the dignity of any other human being.
What we need is love without getting tired.
If you give what you do not need, it is not giving.
Do not worry about why problems exist in the world - just respond to people's needs.
If everyone could see the image of God in his neighbor, do you think we should still need tanks and generals?
I don't think there is anyone who needs God's help as much as I do. Sometimes I feel so helpless and weak. I think that is why God uses me. Because I cannot depend on my own strength, I rely on Him twenty-four hours a day.

People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Love them anyway.

Much more is accomplished by a single word of the Our Father said, now and then, from our heart, than by the whole prayer repeated many times in haste and without attention.
