'Dirty Jobs' is maybe the simplest show in the history of TV, with the possible exception of 'The Gong Show'. I go around the country; we've shot in every state. And we spend a day with people who do jobs that are dirty or dangerous or ridiculous or difficult.
Everything here is messy. Like most things, you can keep yourself pretty clean if you try, but the people who are really good at it and really love it are usually up to their arms in it.
I won a lot of money for them last year and they probably put twice as much back into it. I think you could win every race and it would be hard to break even. But a person up here, we're in it for the hobby.
FYI, the Honey Truck driver, a great guy named Les, used to be a psychiatrist. He quit his practice to clean septic tanks for a living.
If they are, they're in the wrong business.
We passed, we shared the ball and we were unselfish. I thought that today would have been 'me, me, me.' I'm glad it wasn't. There were a lot of kids passing the ball, being unselfish, which for our program is huge.
The band makes sure that nobody has more fun than we do. We have lots of fun. I'm not kidding. You stick a microphone in front of us, and we just have a ball.
It's great. Here, you get to eat your mistakes. Chocolate makes things better, that's why this is so great. It makes life just a little bit better for just about everybody.
We are proud of the work Activision has done to help make this excellent program possible, and it is an honor to witness the Tomorrow's Leader's youth graduate to the next stage of their lives. We have confidence that these youth will positively impact Los Angeles in ways unimagined before this program.
When you were with him, you always felt you were in the right place, doing the right things. He enjoyed his life and brought life to the people he met.

'Dirty Jobs' is a fun, simple little show with huge themes under it. For me, it's penance, it's redemption, it's a sweaty mess.
Every bad joke, every endorsement deal, all of the things that a typical host would normally get creamed for, people don't mind, because they know I don't cheat when it comes to the work I actually try. I'm a lab rat. I'm a perpetual apprentice. The joke is on me if there is one.
The one thing that TV is bad at doing is preaching. There are two extremes, you either turn the people into a punchline or turn them into hero, and both of those things suck, because most people are neither in real life.
