In the second half, we were able to use more of the field and get our offense going. It's our second straight overtime game, the second time it took a little longer to win, but we'll take it, especially with it being Senior Night. It's a special night for them, I'm happy that we were able to win.

We came out with something to prove today. As we walk away from today, we earned something. It wasn't exactly what we wanted, but it was something.

Right now, (Martin) could play 90 minutes, but (her hip) would be very sore the next day. We have to get her healthy first.

Without taking anything away from Syracuse, I thought we played poorly in the first half. We weren't winning balls in the air or on the ground. But for the last seven minutes, after they scored, we picked it up.

This will be a different team than we had last year. It takes time for a defense to gel, especially with the loss of four seniors.

We walk away with our best start ever. We had that extra game on our legs and they didn't. Are we ecstatic with the tie? No. Of course we wanted to win, but it's another step in the right direction for what right now I feel is a very good team.

For Lindsay it's tough, because she's not 100%. It's day to day, and how much can she go? She worked really hard to get to this point, and then her knee started acting up. But when she came in there, she really gave us a spark.

It's the best start in school history. In the pre-season we felt like the mix was there, but we had some injuries. We had concerns but I don't think we had doubts.

It was more of a battle. We needed to put the ball on the grass and knock it around, and as the game went on we established that.

It was a great shot. Their goalkeeper did play off her line and (Kelly) was about even with me. I told her to hit it, and she pulled the trigger.

It's a great start to our season. I'm proud of the way the team came out this weekend. Based on where we have been with some injuries, we had a number of people step up this weekend and play hard.
excellent illinois level played sunday turning
We didn't play well on Friday, but Sunday we were excellent again, at the level we played in the Illinois and Northwestern games. We're getting to overtime, and we're turning it up a notch.
