annoying hear late people scottish-writer sequel situation
It's actually annoying when I hear people say the sequel will be late because we're in a completely different situation from the original.
inspiration people guy
Anytime something becomes a success in this way you always get imitators. I'm an imitator of the guys I love. I imitate people like Frank Miller, who is a huge inspiration to me.
thinking people trying
I think most people know the concept of difficult family situations. So I try to just ground a very big concept in something we can all relate to on some level.
thinking people tough
The one thing we can all relate to is family, and family has its traumas sometimes. Sometimes things don't go well for people. Sometimes things are tough. So everybody kind of knows someone who's been in this situation before, and I think that's what makes it work.
people culture want
Cookbooks are almost a substitution for a lost sense of culture. People want some other life than the one they're living, so they buy a cookbook with pictures and imagine themselves as part of that life.
character ideas people
You kind of worry for the characters in a way that you don't normally in sci-fi, because sci-fi tends to be about the ideas, and this is about people.
people
When you expect the best from people, you will often see more in them than they see in themselves.
skulls people mind
We ordinary people might lack your great speed or your X-Ray vision, Superman, but never underestimate the power of the human mind. We carry the most dangerous weapon on Earth inside these thick skulls of ours.
kept month rising sales scottish-writer
Sales were stable, but they would have kept rising if we'd been out there every month and I think we'd be topping 200,000 by now.
both cap concluded disastrous fans good iron man nearly pick series side thinking
Even now, the series is nearly concluded for me, and I don't know who's right because they are both right and they are both wrong. I think if you did pick a side it would be disastrous because both the Iron Man fans and the Cap fans would be out for your blood. So (what) I'm thinking is that they are both having a good argument.
appeared four gotten line might scottish-writer
Being the first to do something like this also registers a lot of attention that the line might not have gotten if all four books had just appeared from one company.
books children half kids lovely near pass quite scottish-writer stuff visit written
I wouldn't let kids near half the stuff I've written so it is quite lovely to pass these little books out to children when they visit the house.
certain horror level picture psychic scottish-writer sit watch watching
When we sit and watch a horror movie we know we're watching a horror picture and come to the story with a certain level of psychic defence.
both deals ended good honestly mainstream publicity scottish-writer series snapped
We've had really good mainstream publicity for these books and both Wanted and Chosen were snapped up as movie deals before each series even ended so I'm honestly just pinching myself.
