Even though modern life in many ways is nothing short of exhausting, we need to take responsibility for what is necessary to combat the stress and exhaustion of modern life.
We arrogantly assume that the nervous system doesn't really need to be coaxed into romance. That romance comes from some other place.
We need love - an awesome love grounded in the evolutionary potential for life on Earth - to become the organizing principle for human society.
What we really need to avoid is this epidemic of false positivism and false happiness, which says if it hurts, it must be bad. Sometimes it hurts because you have a conscience.
We don't need to fight the forces of chaos so much as we need to restore and revitalize the forces of peace.
People who hate often do so with great conviction. What we need are more people who love with conviction.
The only feelings you really need to fear are those you ignore.
You need not apologize for being brilliant, talented, gorgeous, rich, or smart.
Once we truly understand that God's will is that we be happy, we no longer feel the need to ask for anything other than that God's will be done.
Our deepest human need is not material at all. Our deepest need is to be seen.
We need more than new policies. We need a new worldview, and a new bottom line. We need to replace economic values as our ordering principle, with humanitarian values as our ordering principle.
Change is in the air, as old patterns fall away and new energies are emerging. Consciously release what needs to be released, and welcome with a full embrace the newness you've prayed for and so richly deserve.
There is nowhere you need go to find God, for God is within you. There is no one you need ask if you are good enough, for He has already established He is exceedingly well pleased.
The people who have achieved more than you, in any area, are only a half step ahead of you in time. Bless them and praise their gifts, and bless and praise your own. The world would be less rich without their contributions, and it would be less rich without yours. There's more than room for everyone; in fact, there's a need for everyone.
