We start from scratch - that's good. They made the right call.

First, we need to provide our existing elite-level athletes with a stronger program. Secondly, we need to rejuvenate the development programs we've started in the past, but have not been able to fully maintain. Right now, we don't have a way to get those young athletes the exposure to international racing, which they need.

There are a select few clubs that do a good job of preparing youngsters. It's fairly specialized, fairly small numbers. Maybe somewhere around 100 total.

This is a strong team, even stronger than we had four years ago. Those who were rookies in Salt Lake have developed into real performers now, and our first-timers in 2006 are poised for some very noteworthy results themselves, which we can continue to build from.

Kris is an ultra-focused, ultra-competitive guy. It's a pretty amazing deal. There's nobody I know in the world who's competing at an elite level in endurance athletics who has that kind of issue going on. It just made him more focused. It was incredible, his reaction.

I think it's a strange decision, but it sounds like the decision's been made. I don't know that there is a usual way. ... The jury determined they have a chance to get one round in tomorrow and maybe not two, so they're letting the first round stand.

When he races, we get as many hands as we can out on the course with bottles of sports drink for him, because at any point he can start getting fuzzy.

He's one of the guys who's capable of making a quick comeback. He's a perfect technician on the hill, and ski jumping is 99 percent technique. ... It was a knee problem, but it was mostly a mental problem - mostly just burnout.
