The program really sounds good. But it's going to come down to some tough questions, like who decides whether somebody has violated their pledge contract and (whether) the standards are being enforced uniformly across the state.

There are a lot of children in our schools who would really benefit from getting the sense that adults in society value them and their potential and want to help them succeed.

I think we will eventually need to have an operating budget referendum but the problem is I don't think voters will go for it until we've changed how we handle the budget that we have.
