common couple defense last recurring successful theme weeks
It?s been a common recurring theme over the last couple of weeks that our defense has been very, very good. I think you?re going to be successful more times than not if you play defense the way we did tonight.
beat good hang heads kids proud stop team
I'm proud of the kids. Even when we were down, they never said die. They don't stop hustling. They have nothing to hang their heads about. They got beat by a good team tonight.
call celebrate continue education good happens hidden intangible playing practice relationships wake win work
In education we call it the hidden curriculum, which is the intangible - the friendships, relationships and good times - and we celebrate those first. It just so happens we?re playing for first place, but win or lose, when we wake up Friday, we?re going to go to practice and continue to work hard.
creating extra kids played playing practice shots stepped talking week
The kids really stepped up. They played as one. All week long in practice we've been talking about playing as a team, creating shots for each other and making the extra pass.
collective cut picked shot sigh
They cut it to nine, she banged that shot in the corner, and it was the exhalation. It was a collective sigh and then we picked up.
floor height people practice run running spend time
We wanted to run to neutralize (Amity?s height advantage). We spend a lot of time in practice running the floor ..Our big people were running as well.
good rough stayed stretch
We went through a rough stretch and stayed composed. That?s a good sign.
beat missed offensive outside shots size
We were one and done. We missed outside shots and we weren't able to get offensive rebounds. Their size was a factor. They beat us on the boards.
defense improved second wore
Our defense improved in the second half. The defense slowed them down, and we just wore them down.
ball bang brown ear kid missed sarah second three
I had whispered in her ear (earlier) that if you get the ball to take the shot. She missed the first one but the second one, that?s what kind of kid Sarah Brown is, she has no conscience. The second one, bang for a three and the game-winner.
adjustment credit halftime kids outside pressure
We made an adjustment at halftime and we were able to put more pressure on their outside shooters. That?s a credit to the adjustment the kids made.
owe point practice run score suicide
At halftime, I told them if they score one more fast-break point on us, you?re going to run a suicide in practice tomorrow. I?m not being facetious -- they owe me two.
difficult typical
That?s pretty typical of Desiree. She?s pretty difficult to stop.
beating confidence gained good kids picture
In the big picture it was one of 20, but I think the kids gained a lot of confidence beating a very good team. We have so many things on which to improve, we're pretty much on an even keel.
