Lauri Hakala
Lauri Hakala23 August 1982) is a Finnish male volleyball coach. He had a long volleyball and beach volleyball career before becoming a coach. Since his playing career ended in 2011, Hakala has coached in four countries including The United States, Russia, Slovenia and Finland. In 2015 he was the head coach of the Finland men's national volleyball team at the 2015 European Games in Baku. Currently Hakala coaches a professional men's team LEKA Volley in Kuopio, Finland...

I want to go back to Europe, not Finland, but somewhere else. Depending on how I do, I want to play professionally after.

We just stopped playing and I don't have a reason for it. We haven't played like that all season.

They always play good volleyball and we have to really be prepared. I think we are the better team, I think we wanted it more, we stayed focused.

The whole team was amazing. The first night (a 3-2 loss), we didn't play our best. The second was very good, probably the best that a team I've played for has ever played.

Sometimes it goes that way, sometimes it doesn't. I've been really mindful of my footwork. I'm happy it finally worked.

At the beginning, we were kind of careful, I'd say. If you try to be too careful, good things don't follow. You don't have confidence.

That way when the opponent thinks I'm going to hit it hard, I can tip the ball. That gives you another weapon.

I'm so glad I came to UH. We have a really good program, we have good teammates and we are well-coached.

We're part of a team. You don't get any individual recognition if you don't have a good guy setting the ball, if you don't have the thousands and thousands of reps with your teammates. The fact that our entire team made all-conference is very great. It's a good testament to the coaches, too, and to ourselves, and to how hard we worked.

It's one of those things. You either have it or you don't. It went the wrong way.

It's exciting here and it seems to me that people here enjoy playing more.
