We are taking a medium to longer term view rather than pulling out immediately after elections.
It is very easy to say why don't you resolve politically rather than putting troops. It is very easy to criticize, but it's not that simple.
There was never any intention on my part to make Mr. Hansen, Mary Robinson or Larsen part of the team, ... And so I found it rather unfortunate that there has been such public objection to their participation. The issue was never posed.
There were governments that were not willing to make the concessions necessary, there were spoilers also in the group, let's be quite honest about that, ... I've tried to get them to understand that in our interconnected world, we need to look at issues in much broader terms rather than narrow national interests.
It is my view that, rather than allowing this situation to deteriorate into a crisis, the Security Council should engage with the Iraqi authorities in order to resolve the problem,
I'm confident that next year they will be able to get onto the commission and this situation will be corrected, ... I think they should work towards next year rather than wanting to punish the membership at large.
